Last week (end of February 2012) we had to go down to Weymouth – B&Q actually, but that’s not the reason for the post!!

Wildlife right near the middle of town!

We had decided to go for a stroll on the local wild life reserve nearby… How close? Right across the road!

Having lived in the area for more years than I care to remember, it was about time we took a stroll around Radipole Lake. This place is an RSPB reserve and we had NEVER been to see it – although we are members!

The weather was not particularly fine – it was still, overcast and the light was poor and rather “flat” and the vegetation, reeds etc were all a pretty dull colour! However the sights that caught us were wonderful! especially when a young family gathered to feed the birds!

The few photos below are not examples of great technical brilliance, but they just show, I think, what you CAN find on your doorstep if you just take that decision to get out and about!

I think we need to concentrate on more of the local areas that we can find great things to photograph! Next post then – How about the garden!
